Work to deliver 128 affordable homes in Hummersea Hills, Loftus, is coming to its final stages. Esh Construction is delivering the scheme on behalf of Beyond Housing, with 104 homes including apartments, houses and bungalows handed over to date.
The scheme comprises of one, two, three and four-bedroom houses, one- and two-bedroom apartments and one, two and three-bedroom bungalows. 73 of these new homes will be made available for affordable rent, with the other 12 being marketed for Rent to Buy through Beyond Housing’s sales company, Viola Homes.
The project includes 43 homes for flexible supported living, which will be provided with care and support services from the community. The View is part of the successful ‘Redcare’ partnership between Beyond Housing and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, established to provide bespoke homes with care and support for eligible people with support needs from across Redcar and Cleveland.
Mark Binns, operations director at Esh Construction, said: “As we head towards completion at Hummersea Hills it is important to recognise the hard work and dedication from all parties involved which has enabled us to reach this stage.
“This is a project that commenced in the height of the pandemic, but collaborative working has been key to overcoming any challenges that were presented. The new homes handed over to date have been well received and we look forward to bringing the site to completion very soon.”
Clare Harrigan, director of development at Beyond Housing said: “We are delighted to be working with Esh Construction to deliver this attractive and strategically important development. The scheme will provide a range of much-needed affordable new homes, offering care and support and a choice of tenures.”
As part of our commitment to delivering social value on the scheme, Esh donated £30,000 towards a creation of a community woodland walk and more than 360 apprentice training weeks have been delivered via Efficiency North’s EN:Able Futures programme. Three employability and budgeting workshops have been delivered to students at Redcar and Cleveland College, with two site visits for joinery students also taking place. A student from Middlesbrough College has completed 14 days of work experience on site and has since secured an apprenticeship with Esh.
