Esh Construction and Esh-Stantec shortlisted for Northumbrian Water Group’s GEM Awards

The awards were launched to celebrate supply partners that ‘go the extra mile’.

Esh Construction and joint venture, Esh-Stantec, have been shortlisted for 11 entries at this year’s Northumbrian Water Group (NWG) ‘Going the Extra Mile’ (GEM) Awards.

NWG established the GEM Awards to promote, highlight and celebrate the significant contribution its supply partners play in helping the water company achieve its vision.

Recognised for its work on the NWG Runway 1 framework, designed to deliver reactive repairs and maintenance, and BCM (Buildings & Civils Maintenance), Esh Construction has been shortlisted for seven awards, which include:

• Carbon Conscious – for Esh’s commitment to carbon reduction via the ‘Even Greener’ strategy on Runway 1 and 2.

• Project/Programme of the Year – for Kielder Waterside Wifi Project alongside Virgin Media O2 and Multiconnect Communications.

• Achieving a Good Result – alongside JetAire, Esh Drainage Solutions, Greenspark, Clearway and Pipetek for the approach to flooding incident management.

• The One Team Award – for the launch of the ‘One in, all in’, a new Service Bank ensuring first class customer and service delivery on the reactive and maintenance workstreams.

• Health, Safety and Wellbeing Award – for high risk confined spaces and rescue training delivered by Esh Construction.

• Unrivalled Customer Experience – for Kielder Waterside Wifi Project.

• Unrivalled Customer Experience – for Esh’s ‘Mirror, Mirror’ initiative where customer engagement is mirrored on all work delivered for NWG.

Esh-Stantec is a joint venture between Esh Construction and leading provider of sustainable design and engineering services, Stantec, which delivers capital schemes through Northumbrian Water’s Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Framework.

The Esh-Stantec joint venture has been shortlisted for:

• Carbon Conscious – for the Grassholme Reservoir Northern Embankment Stabilisation Works project.

• Project/Programme of the Year – for the Grassholme Reservoir Northern Embankment Stabilisation Works project.

• Legacy Award – for the launch and delivery of the Get into STEM ‘Water’ programme.

• Responsible Procurement Award – for the delivery and management of social, environmental and economic outcomes via ‘Constructing Local’ and ‘Loop’.

Stantec was also shortlisted in a further five categories, which include Robert Chesney being nominated for the Rising Star Award, the Diversity and Inclusion Award, the Creativity and Innovation Award, the One Team Award and two Carbon Conscious Award nominations.

The awards ceremony will be held on 10th September at The Fed in Dunston, Gateshead.
