Esh’s affordable housing division has been appointed to deliver a £1.8m contract via the Hull City Council Small Sites Programme, an initiative to develop small areas of vacant land across the Hull area.
The Small Sites Programme is part funded by the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership and will see modern new build bungalows developed on small parcels of land – the majority located in an area known as Longhill – all available for rent from Hull City Council.
The development will see Esh construct 10 two-bedroom dormer bungalows located across three pieces of land, working in partnership with design team – DevCom, P+HS Architects and Alan Wood & Partners. Three sites known as Earsham Close, Soffam Close, and Shorewell Close will become home to four, four, and two new bungalows respectively.
Procured via the YORbuild2 framework, Hull City Council selected four contractors to deliver the Small Sites Programme, with each contractor building 10 units each.
Stuart Leslie, Divisional Director at Esh Construction, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the contract as part of the Hull Small Sites Programme, marking the start of Esh’s relationship to deliver affordable housing on behalf of Hull City Council. As we grow our workload throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region with over £63m of schemes live or due to commence within our affordable housing division, we look forward to creating a successful partnership with Hull City Council which will deliver high quality new homes and economic and social value for the local community.”
Construction work is set to commence on site towards the ends of 2020 with a view to the project being completed by Summer 2021.
