Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston joined Esh Construction and Thirteen on site to mark the official completion of an innovative new apartment block in the heart of Middlesbrough’s Boho Zone.
Named Bohouse North, the development has created 40 stunning apartments for affordable rent. The one-and two-bedroom contemporary apartments feature modern bathrooms and kitchens, balconies or roof gardens and parking. They are modern, flexible homes where people can work or study from home, with some including a specially designed workspace.
Based in the Middlehaven regeneration area at the heart of the Boho Zone – Middlesbrough’s digital, creative and business hub – the apartments are just a stone’s throw from the railway station and five minutes’ walk from all the town centre shops, restaurants and leisure facilities.
Esh’s Construction Director, Brian Joyce, said: “We’re delighted to mark official completion of another fantastic project delivered in partnership with Thirteen. These new homes are an important part of the Boho Zone masterplan and as a local contractor, we’re proud to have played our part in the regeneration of this area.”
The apartments have been unveiled as Thirteen continues to deliver on its ambitious plans to build 4,600 new homes over the next five years. Sharon Thomas, Thirteen’s director of business growth, said: “We’re delighted to be a part of the revival of this exciting and vibrant part of Middlesbrough. These apartments are a stunning addition to the area, and they complement the fantastic regeneration work that’s going on in Middlehaven.
“Bohouse North is Thirteen’s second development in the heart of the Boho Zone. It’s an affordable, contemporary development where our residents will be able to keep their bills and carbon footprint low while benefiting from living in an exciting and central location close to everything the town centre has to offer.
“Since day one, it’s been great working with Esh Construction, Middlesbrough Council and the Middlesbrough Mayor as well as Homes England and other partners to deliver these fantastic new homes, which are contributing to the Boho Zone’s growing national reputation.”
Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston added: “The Boho Zone is blazing a trail for Middlesbrough’s future as the UK digital city. It’s not just about having amazing places to work – the people spearheading our latest industrial revolution want amazing places to live as well.
“These brilliant Bohouse apartments are another major step forward in one of the region’s great success stories.”
