Children and young people accessing mental health services in York are set to benefit from improved, new facilities following a £1.2m investment.
Esh Construction has been appointed by Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) – provider of children and young people’s community mental health services in The Vale of York – to deliver a refurbishment programme of premises on the Link Business Park in Osbaldwick, just outside of York City Centre.
The new premises will offer a much-improved space and environment for local children and young people’s mental health services, which are currently based at Lime Trees on Shipton Road in York.
Built across two floors, the site will provide increased high-quality therapy space with improved accessibility for children and young people and their parents and carers. The building will allow for more staff to work on site within COVID regulations, while also providing increased space for clinical activity, group work, and onsite training.

Esh’s commercial build division has been on site in Northallerton since early 2020 delivering the Trust’s North Moor House development and we look forward to bringing our expertise to this second project, which will help improve the accessibility of mental health services in the area.”
The investment in this new facility demonstrates the Trust’s commitment to child and adolescent mental health services in the Vale of York.
Commenting on the move Naomi Lonergan, TEWV Director of Operations in York said: “Current premises at Lime Trees no longer meet our service needs. For example some of our therapy rooms aren’t accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs and the limited space makes group work, staff training, and the overall working environment very constrained.
“Whilst some improvements have been made in recent years we have now reached the limit of what Lime Trees can offer and we needed an improved care environment in which to give patients a positive experience and an improved working environment for staff.”
Esh Construction has now commenced work on the new premises, working in partnership with Richard Eves Architects LLP, Sharp and Scarffe Ltd and JH Partners. The development will provide a mix of clinical, meeting and office space, with services set to occupy the building in August of this year.
