Esh’s affordable housing division is due to break ground on site in Easington Village on a new development known as Seaside Lane. Located on the site of the long-demolished Easington working men’s club, the plans were approved for the £11m land led development by Durham County Council earlier this year.
Delivered on behalf of believe housing, the scheme will provide 96 new homes, with a mix of 28 two-bedroom houses, 54 three–bedroom houses, 6 four-bedroom houses and 8 two-bedroom bungalows. The project will also see a new public open space at the heart of the new community, creating a ‘village green’ feel.
Construction work on the first phase is due to start mid-September 2020 with a view to the first families moving into their new homes by the end of summer 2021. When completed, 36 of the new homes will be available for affordable rent and the remaining 60 will be offered for rent to buy.
